Boundary Cottage was thrilled to win the Chipping Campden episode of Holiday Homes in the Sun on Monday 4th October 2022.
The new Channel 5 travel show is hosted by Amanda Lamb, JB Gill and Sam Pinkham. It follows the trio as they compete against each other to discover the best holiday homes at home and abroad. The episode saw the team explore the quaint north Cotswolds town of Chipping Campden.
Sam picked Boundary Cottage. We scored a massive 27 out of 30 and were crowned favourite.
Just one of the ‘wow factors’ nudging it into the top spot were the incredible views. Host Amanda even went as far to say:
“That view is just up there in the top 20 that I’ve ever seen.”
Although the two-bedroom cottage dates back to the 1800s and has traditional features such as wooden beams on the ceiling, she also praised it for being good for tall people.
She explained:
“Because I’m tall – I’m almost 6ft – when I come to a cottage a lot of the time, I can feel a bit hemmed in and a bit claustrophobic. But I don’t here.
I just want to put on some socks and pyjamas and not move for a week. It sort of just envelopes you in a big hug. That’s exactly what you want when you come to the Cotswolds. A traditional honey-stoned cottage.”
Praising the owners, Amanda added:
“It doesn’t feel like a money-making machine. It feels like the owners really care and really want you to have a lovely time. Imagine here in autumn what that valley would look like.”
The programme was filmed in May when there were sheep in the surrounding fields. Amanda loved hearing the sweet sound of lambs.
Former JLS star JB was a fan of the location. It’s only a couple of miles drive from both the charming boltholes of Broadway and Chipping Campden, and less than a mile to the nearest pub. So it’s the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds as a whole.
Impressive extras mentioned included the cosy log burner, charcoal BBQ, off-road parking, bike storage and a lovely garden complete with a pergola. Plus, the local milk, apple juice and complimentary Bramley toiletries which are also available for guests to use during their stay.
Sam said Boundary Cottage offered great value for money.
All three presenters gave Boundary Cottage a 9 out of 10, bringing its total winning score to 27.
Sam said of his winning property:
“The finishing touches are fantastic. Dressing gowns, duvets that you want to be wrapped up in for life, log fires, glasses of red wine, back here to watch a movie after a lovely long walk – and it’s great value for money.”
