Covering nearly 800 square miles, the Cotswolds is the biggest Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty (AONB) in England and Wales. The picturesque rolling hills surrounding Boundary Cottage itself is typical of the quintessential English countryside here that is waiting to be explored on foot or by bike or even on horse-back.
Walking
Many people who come on holiday to one of the most beautiful places in England like to get outside and explore the countryside on foot. It could be a gentle stroll, long hike or something in between. There’s lots of breath-taking views and amazing scenery just waiting for you to discover. So if you’re keen to strap on your boots and get your share of fresh air whilst you’re here – here’s some of our favourite routes.

Cycling
If you prefer to do your exploring on two wheels, from a gentle ride along the rural lanes to some exhilarating downhill trails on your mountain bike – there’s a lot to keep you busy nearby.
The Cotswolds National Landscape has a list of cycle routes in the area.
For mountain biking, check out The 417 Bike Park. With downhill trails, an indoor pumptrack, a 4X track and dual slalom it has something for keen mountain bikers of all abilities.
Secure bike storage is available at Boundary Cottage so you are very welcome to bring your bike with you. However if it’s a bit of a squeeze to fit it in (or on) your car, bike hire is available from Hartwell’s Cycle Hire, Stratford Bike Hire and Far Peak. You can hire E-Bikes from Tower Bikes.

Swimming
Whether you want to take the children for a fun swim, work out and clock up some lengths or if you flourish from the invigorating experience of wild swimming, we’ve got you covered. Just remember to bring your cossie and swimming towel.
